By this time of the year New Year resolutions are abandoned by about 80% of people who made them according to U.S. News & World Report. I’m going to be honest, I’ve given up on one of mine as well but I just love bread to much to eliminate it everyday. So, I’m amending my goal to cut breads out 4 times a week.
But the Gospel is not a new years goal. It’s not something I set to do or achieve. It’s a necessity. I have the privilege to share the gospel of the kingdom of Christ to a child who has only heard one thing about God, that He made Adam and Eve. That’s it. As an 11 year old it’s a sorry start but now its time to build his awareness of God.
The Gospel will challenge this young boy. It stands on foundations of truth and utilizes the power of God. The words of God are the only words that have the power to save from sin. Unfortunately, the effects of sin have literally engulfed this child. Whatever damage is done the gospel can heal but i’m blessed that the Lord has placed me in this young boys life with the opportunity to reveal God and His good ways.
I pray that each of us have the opportunity to find someone who really knows nothing about God, and we can go out of our way to share the gospel, teach them the commands of the Lord, and exemplify the life of the Holy Spirit to them.
“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
1 John 3:18
I think it’s fitting that February, the month of St. Valentine’s Day, our cultures day of love be the month that I can really show the love of Jesus to a young person who hasn’t ever experienced it.
